DR. GENTLE & MR. MAN

This project consists of wearable interactive objects that react to the social behaviour and movement of today’s young British people. The pieces examine two perceived traits in
British society – drinking culture and polite formality – and comment on the extreme behaviours that can arise from these. According to my personal impressions of British people, from stereotypes to firsthand confrontations, I have designed the interactive objects to respond to these behavioural tendencies. These objects refer visually to cultural and historical examples of British costume and accordingly raise a wider debate about cultural identity over time.

Finally, they are fun to wear, and in interventions in various sites, they provide the user with unique, rich and transformative experiences.
